Helicopter Survey

Helicentre registered trade product Helisurvey® is proven in most industries, using twin engined helicopters for optimum safety and stability, using the latest dual sensor camera systems. Our team of cameramen/technicians combine with our studio and remote location vehicle to give excellent results for all of our survey requirements.

Helicentre own and operate heavily modified Land Rover vehicles, designed from the outset to work in partnership with our helicopters and camera systems. They are fitted with all the necessary communications systems to command and control various operations from general surveys to major incidents. To the casual observer our vehicle looks the same as any other, they still seat 4 adult passengers plus driver, in comfort, whilst carrying all of the technology.

During operations the vehicles are parked within a 20 mile* radius of the operating helicopter, where they can receive real-time broadcast quality images from the camera mounted on the helicopter. Viewing the received images in this way saves valuable time and money and allows the right people to see at first hand the extent of any problem. Thanks to the two way communication with the helicopter, the camera operator can receive instruction on exactly what to look at. The received images are displayed on screens inside the vehicle together with a moving map display of helicopter position. All of this information is captured digitally and can even be edited via the on-board edit suite, then mastered to digital tape or DVD for immediate use.

At a moments notice the vehicle can move or travel to a new location thanks to the GPS microwave tracking system which ensures data reception from the helicopter.

Maintenance Survey

500 miles per day can be surveyed including embankment fences etc. Many potential problems can be prevented if reported in time. Using Helisurvey® system helps reduce time and cost.

Thermal Fault Detection

Detection of thermal hotspots on overhead lines & other cables indicating higher than normal current flow. Up to 40 miles per hour coverage depending on equipment density & number of defects

Railway Point Heater Survey

Thermal imaging survey of point heaters to determine operation status. Can be carried out by switching all heaters on manually or by flying when temperatures are low enough for heaters to operate.

Asset Survey

Video recording using Gyro stabilised, high magnification video camers flying at around 50 knots to record, with GPS, valuable assets and at the same time give an update of their condition. Ideal for line side fencing, vegetation and scrap surveys covering up to sixty route miles per hour.

Detailed Survey

Lower speed survey from 500ft again using the gyro-stabilised camera & offering highly detailed video footage of assets.

Trespass & Vandalism

Using modern day surveillance applications utilising thermal imaging techniques can detect the smallest of objects at distance. On board camera will record the operation and deliver vital evidence which could ultimately result in prosecutions.

  • Helisurvey® can provide cost effectivity with safety and efficiency for all your needs.
  • The system has been designed to be used in the railway industry, achieving excellent results, but can be used in most industries.
  • Maximising the efficiency of the system saves valuable time, improving performance results.
  • Using the latest camera technology with integrated GPS, information can be passed from the air to ground personnel using our fleet of mobile incident vehicles complete with microwave link. In urgent cases, the helicopter can land and deal with the problem immediately.
  • Both infared and daylight survey equipment are carried in addition to a highly trained observer to locate and record, with voice annotation, what is seen from the air using VHS,CD,DVD or still photography
  • Whether flying the line for Maintenance or Asset Management Helisurvey® is the quickest, most cost effective way to improve results.
  • Health, safety and risk management can be improved by working from the air.
